We chose a glorious May day to finish off our April 1000-mile Challenge for the Farming Community Network. The Cultura Connect team met at 9:30 am at the Agri-Tech Centre. After our usual loud, raucous round of welcoming and catching up amongst our team, we were joined by Graham & Rosie from the FCN and FCN Ambassador & HAU 3rd year student, Tom York. We were delighted to welcome them to tell us more about the work of the FCN.

We heard from Graham about the importance of the 'Nip it in the bud' campaign and what a difference it is already making in the farming community. Tom told the team how he got involved with the FCN and how he has helped signpost his cohort at Harper Adams University to the right people when they have needed it. Tom is a huge advocate of having that 'puncture repair kit' when you set off on that journey of life, the FCN is that toolkit, there to provide support when you need it, when 'life happens' and the unexpected knocks you off course. Rosie followed with an account of her work with the FCN, how she got involved, and the groups she currently works with to ensure that people know the FCN is there for them.

Setting off on our walk through the beautiful Harper Adams campus, we were at 960 miles. We all set our Strava trackers going and just enjoyed the sunshine and the great company. It was the perfect way to finish off our challenge, which has been all about getting away from the desk, taking time to get out into the fresh air, and at the same time, supporting the industry that the whole team is so passionate about.

A fantastic alfresco buffet lunch was provided by the brilliant catering team at the Agri-Tech Centre. We appreciated being able to enjoy the weather for a bit longer before the afternoon team collaboration day in the board room.

A huge thank you to Graham, Rosie & Tom for making the effort to join us for those last few miles. Thanks to the Agri-Tech Centre team for providing the venue, always accommodating our last-minute requests, and being so welcoming. And not forgetting our amazing team (in particular Sally, who clocked up an astounding 194 miles in April!), well done for completing the challenge and fitting it in on top of your busy work schedules, lambing time, and life!

Onto the next challenge...
